    Bat-Mite (Fifth Dimension)

    Revision as of 13:22, 4 April 2024 by Darthjacob11 (talk | contribs)

I'm not an elf! I come from another dimension, where all men are my size! -- I made myself a costume-- and I'm calling myself Bat-Mite!
    — Bat-Mite[src]

    History

    Lego

When he heard that the Justice League were annoying Batman, he kidnapped them and their villains one-by-one to prove to them that Batman didn't need them. In doing so, Bat-Mite made Batman realize he needed to join the team to protect them from people like Bat-Mite. Enraged by this discovery, Bat-Mite set the villains loose, but upon seeing the heroes fight them he was in awe of all of them. He decided no longer was he going to be just a Batman fan but a Justice League fan and left.

    Legends of the Dark Mite

In his first appearance, Bat-Mite arrives in the middle of a robbery thwarted by Batman. After seeing how easy the criminals surrender, Bat-Mite makes it more challenging for the caped crusader and stacks the odds against him. Bat-Mite then revealed himself at Batman's demand and explained that he was not only his biggest fan, but wanted to pit him against the greatest villain of all time to prove him the greatest superhero ever.

After going through his options of supervillains for Batman to fight, Batman recommended Calendar Man. Bat-Mite then turned Calendar Man into the Calendar King which caused him to create various henchmen to battle Batman. Witnessing Batman's victory over Calendar Man, Bat-Mite wanted to see him fight again, only to be convinced to return to the Fifth Dimension and given a signed official Batarang.

Once at the Batcave, Bat-Mite took the form of Ace. Batman who believed he was talking to Ace insulted Bat-Mite by calling him "A weird little creep from another dimension" and a "Pest". He realized that the real Ace entered the frame seconds after, realizing that the Ace in front of him was actually Bat-Mite. Insulted by his hero, Bat-Mite verbally lashed out at Batman, then sent him into an alternate dimension where he sends countless monsters and soldiers after him.

During the pursuit, Bat-Mite realizes that Batman is sitting nearby, not trying to save himself. Bat-Mite is convinced by his hero to become Batman. Although he defeats Gorilla Grodd, he finds himself running from supervillains Batman has faced in the past. Convinced he couldn't take them on alone, Batman comes in the frame at his request to help him. Using his reality altering powers, he stops everything and thinks himself a failure. Batman explains that he "Has powers that would put other magic users to shame" and that he should be proud of it rather than following in his hero's footsteps. Happy to hear this, Bat-Mite leaves and returns Batman to the Batcave. Elsewhere though, Bat-Mite now finds himself with Green Arrowtelling him that "He's his biggest fan".

He appeared when Batman was battling the Royal Flush Gang alongside the Super Friends. He first transferred all the powers of the Super Friends to Batman, but this sought the wraith of Mister Mxyzptlk. The mad imp terrorized the city and Batman had to convince Bat-Mite to give his friends their powers back. He did, but in doing so, he warped reality to make them members of the Batman Family. While they were able to drive back Mister Mxyzptlk, the hero's other imps and a Guardian of the Universe teamed-up to reset reality. Learning a lesson about teams, Bat-Mite gathered the other imps in the Fifth Dimension and planned a partnership.

    Con Games

That later came in the form of them crashing Super-Con, a comic book convention. Hearing the Super Friends were hosting a panel, he took Mister Mxyzptlk to watch them. Mxyzptlk grew bored and convinced Bat-Mite the audience would prefer to see them in action. He manifested an illusion of Titano. After Mxyzptlk tricked the other imps into causing mayhem, the Super Friends realized what the imps were doing and scolded them.

In 1959 he was pulled from the Fifth Dimension along with Mxyzptlk by the Epsilon Eridanites to help find a hero that would help them defeat the Bortan Empire. Two of their representatives have found two worthy candidates in the form of Superman and Batman, and they wanted Bat-Mite to test out Mxyzptlk's hero Superman to find out his worthiness while Mxyzptlk tested out Bat-Mite's hero Batman. Eventually Superman brought the whole contest over to Gotham City, having Bat-Mite's monster fight with Mxyzptlk's. Mxyzptlk decided at that point to create one giant tentacled monster to deal with both heroes. However, both Superman and Batman decided to make themselves look like they were totally defeated and destroyed by the monster so that the Epsilon Eridanites would end up choosing both Mxyzptlk and Bat-Mite as their heroes to take care of the Bortan threat, forever removing them from bothering either Superman or Batman ever again.
